The Funkie Team Advocacy Group
The Advocacy Group was formed in 2006 with help from funding from Southern Investing for Health (SIHP) and Abbey Charitable Trust. The group is made up of people who attend Oakridge Social Education Centre, Unit 16, Coalisland Day Centre and McCague Day Centre in Aughnacloy. They are supported by Equality 2000 and have received training and mentoring support from Compass Advocacy Network.

In 2007 we have been working with The Equality Commission on a 'Formal Investigation into the Accessibility of Health Information for People with a Learning Disability and importantly to us
Now in 2008 having received our training we are meeting twice a month to address issues within our centres and the community. We are currently taking part in training delivered in partnership with Equality and The Behavioural Support Team in dealing with Emotions.
We hope to deliver a one-day conference to bring our learning to more people with learning difficulties in the area later in the year - Watch this space.
